EPS investigators issued multiple warrants for the arrest of Harsh Jindal, 26, on April 12, 2023. Investigators believe Jindal was the get-away driver involved in a shooting at a restaurant located near 12 Avenue and 101 Street SW on Oct. 8, 2021. Jindal turned himself in last night, Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the EPS Downtown Branch front counter and was subsequently taken into custody. Investigators continue to seek information regarding the shooter, who has yet to be identified.

Background:
On Friday, Oct. 8, at approximately 8:20 p.m., an adult male complainant was having dinner with his family at a restaurant in a south Edmonton commercial complex near 17 Avenue and 99 Street. It was reported to police that an unidentified maleapproached the restaurant from the exterior of the building. He then walked up to a window directly in front of where the family were sitting and fired multiple gunshots through the glass at them.
The male complainant sustained several gun-shot wounds and was taken to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. Other family members, including children, staff and restaurant patrons were fortunate to escape injury. The male suspect fled the immediate scene on foot that evening, before getting into an SUV driven by a second suspect, since identified as Harsh Jindal, 26, of Edmonton.
Jindal is charged with attempted murder,aggravated assault, discharging a prohibited/restricted firearm with intent to endanger life andintentionally discharging a firearm into a place knowing, or being reckless as to whether, that place is occupied.
