Police seek public's assistance identifying suspect following assault

The Edmonton Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a male suspect following an aggravated assault in southwest Edmonton in February.

On Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, police responded to a reported aggravated assault at a business in the area of 109 Street and 23 Avenue. It was reported to police that an unknown male entered the business and attempted to steal various items. When a staff member asked the man to leave, he reportedly assaulted the employee and fled the store.

The male employee suffered significant but non-life-threatening injuries and attended hospital for treatment. He has since been released.

Officers continue to actively investigate this incident and are hopeful the public may be able to assist with the identification of the suspect.

The suspect is described as a male who is approximately 5’10” tall and has long dark hair that was pulled back into a ponytail. At the time of the incident, he was wearing black pants, a blue jacket and Nike running shoes.
