David Whitford, was last seen on Friday, Aug. 25, 2023, in the area of Victoria Trail and 135 Avenue. He is described as being 5’9”, approximately 190 lbs, with short black hair. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a black zip-up hooded jacket and cream coloured dress shorts.
Whitford was known to frequent the area of the Fraser Off-leash area in northeast Edmonton and police determined his phone was in that area the day he went missing. Today, Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023, EPS Missing Persons Unit was assisted by City of Edmonton Park Rangers, the Canadian Search Dog Association, the Search and Rescue Dog Association of Alberta, Edmonton Regional Search and Rescue, Parkland Search and Rescue, and the EPS Marine Unit. They performed an extensive search of the Fraser Off-leash area as well as the adjacent river valley but were unable to locate him.
Investigators are requesting residents that live in the area bordering the off-leash area to contact police if they observed anyone matching his description on Friday, Aug. 25 or Saturday, Aug. 26.
His disappearance is considered out of character, and his family and police are concerned for his well-being.
