The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating a serious injury collision which occurred Friday evening in southeast Edmonton.

On Friday, Sept. 9, 2023, at approximately 9:00 p.m., a 39-year-old male was operating a black Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on 50 Street approaching 38 Avenue travelling at a high rate of speed. At the same time a 28-year-old female was travelling south on 50 Street, making a left hand turn to proceed onto 38 Avenue eastbound in a silver Toyota rav4. The motorcycle struck the rear passenger side of the rav4 with enough force to spin the vehicle 180 degrees. The motorcycle rider suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by paramedics. The driver of the rav4 was transported to hospital for precautionary reasons. Speed is believed to be the major factor of the collision.

EPS Major Collisions Investigations Section (MCIS) took over the investigation and is asking the public for any dash camera footage from the area between 34 Avenue and 38 Avenue on 50 Street, for the time just prior to the collision which occurred at approximately 9:00 p.m.
