At approximately 3:54 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, a Dodge Caravan was traveling northbound on 106 Street. Witnesses reported that the van went off the road at 56 Avenue and struck a chain link fence. There were no reports of other vehicles or pedestrians involved in the collision. EMS treated and transported a 72-year-old male, the lone occupant of the van, to hospital with unknown injuries where he passed away.
The collision is currently under investigation by EPS Southwest Division with the assistance of the EPS Major Collision Investigation Section. At this time, drug/alcohol impairment and speed do not appear to be factors, and it is believed that the driver suffered a medical episode.
