Edmonton Police Service’s Homicide Section has confirmed the deceased body found at a residential fire yesterday, Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, as a homicide.
The Edmonton Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy today on Genevieve Lucienne Auger, 32. The cause of death will not be released at this time.
Homicide detectives have one male suspect in custody and are not looking for any other suspects.
The investigation continues.
Background:
The Edmonton Police Service was called by Edmonton Fire Rescue around 2:20 a.m. this morning after a residential fire occurred in the area of 173 Street and 77 Avenue.
One person is deceased and EPS Homicide Section is leading this investigation with assistance from EPS Arson Unit and Edmonton Fire Rescue.
An autopsy will take place at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014.
