Southeast Division patrol members responded to 71 Street and 86 Avenue, at approximately 9:15 p.m. last night, Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, after receiving a 911 call regarding a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, members found an injured 65-year-old female lying in a crosswalk in the Kenilworth neighbourhood, suffering from life-threatening injuries. Witnesses maintain that the male driver of a 2005 Ford Explorer was travelling northbound on 71 Street, before turning westbound on 86 Avenue, when he allegedly struck a female complainant in a marked crosswalk.
Paramedics treated the woman on scene, before transporting her to hospital where she was pronounced deceased on arrival.
Anton Magas, 77, has been charged with impaired causing death and driving over .80 causing death.
