November marks National Community Safety and Crime Prevention Month. REACH Edmonton, along with the Edmonton Police Service, is hosting a Winter Safety Fair this Saturday, November 15.

10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

"We're heading into the busy holiday season and this is the time to remind people to keep safety and crime prevention in mind in their daily life," says Jan Fox, Executive Director of REACH Edmonton.

The Winter Safety Fair is a free, family-oriented event that includes exhibitor booths, a fingerprinting station, children’s activities, live entertainment, and photo opportunities.

“We view crime prevention as a partnership,” says A/Sgt. Kendall Booth of EPS’ Collaborative Policing Unit. “One in which both the police, their partners, and the public can play proactive roles in helping to maintain safe communities.”

Throughout the week, the EPS and REACH have used their social media feeds to promote crime prevention using the hashtag #wintersafety on Twitter, and Facebook feeds have seen new safety-themed renditions of Christmas carols.

View the event program for more information and come on out to learn more about crime prevention and winter safety.
