The Edmonton Police Service is investigating a hit and run collision between an SUV and a pedestrian that took place in north Edmonton, and are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the vehicle involved.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, a 32-year-old male got out of his delivery vehicle parked westbound along 127 Avenue east of 126 Street.  It was reported by witnesses that the employee had just exited the driver side when he was struck by an unknown vehicle travelling westbound.  The vehicle turned right and proceeded northbound on 126 Street, allegedly slowing down briefly before speeding away.  EMS treated and transported the 32-year-old male to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  The delivery vehicle sustained damage to its left-hand side.

EPS Northeast Division officers continue to investigate the collision and are looking at video surveillance from a nearby business to help identify the unknown vehicle.  Witnesses describe the vehicle as a four-door, dark-coloured SUV with a roof rack and tinted windows – possibly an older-model Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango with canopy, or Nissan Xterra.  The vehicle is also believed to have sustained damage to its right-hand side.

“We are asking for anyone with information about this vehicle to come forward to police, or that the driver of the vehicle comes forward to speak with us about the collision,” says Const. Jeff McIsaac with EPS Northeast Division.

Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.tipsubmit.com/start.htm.
