The Edmonton Police Service is investigating a pedestrian collision that occurred at a marked crosswalk at 98 Avenue and east of Terrace Road earlier this evening.

Southeast Division Patrol members responded to the collision at approximately 7:50 p.m. today, Monday, Dec. 15, 2014.  It was reported that a Pontiac G5 was travelling westbound on 98 Avenue, when it allegedly struck two pedestrians, a male and a female, who were walking north to south across 98 Avenue at a marked crosswalk.

Both pedestrians were treated and transported to hospital with injuries. The 22-year-old female pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital in critical condition. The 27-year-old male pedestrian sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The EPS Major Collision Investigation Section has taken over the investigation. Neither excessive speed nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the collision.
