Amber Alert cancelled

The Amber Alert that was issued earlier today (Friday, Dec. 19, 2014) for three male children has been cancelled. The children have been located and are safe and unharmed.

At approximately 9:40 a.m., Edmonton Police Service Northeast Division officers responded to the area of Delwood Road after it was reported that an adult male had allegedly abducted three male children and an adult female. An Amber Alert was activated at 12:24 p.m. The Amber Alert was cancelled at 5:08 p.m. after RCMP took a male and female into custody in Evansburg, Alberta.

The suspect’s vehicle was spotted this afternoon in the Evansburg area on private property. The property owner called to report the vehicle to the RCMP. The RCMP Emergency Response Team and EPS Air 1 responded to the scene, and a male and a female were arrested.

The RCMP and EPS continue to investigate. No charges have been laid at this time.

Background:

The Edmonton Police Service issued an Amber Alert asking for the public’s assistance in locating three male, Caucasian children that had been allegedly abducted by an adult male from north Edmonton at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014.

The adult male is described as a Caucasian male, approximately 6’1” in height, and weighs about 300 lbs. He was last seen wearing a grey shirt, grey pants, with suspenders and eye glasses.

The adult male and children were last seen in a 2002 red Kia Sedona. The vehicle was last known to be travelling in west Edmonton. The adult male may be accompanied by an Aboriginal female with long, dark hair.
