An Edmonton man is facing multiple charges in connection with a weapon’s complaint that led several Edmonton Police Service units on a pursuit across the city’s south side Tuesday afternoon.

Southwest Division Patrol members responded to a weapon’s complaint at approximately 3 p.m. July 23, 2013. A witness reported seeing a male motorist pointing a handgun out of his vehicle window near 109 Street and 68 Avenue. Police quickly located the vehicle travelling eastbound on Whyte Avenue near 105 Street, and attempted to corner the suspect vehicle with the help of Canine Unit members.

The accused then entered into brief back-to-back criminal flights, which members terminated quickly out of concern for public safety. The accused is alleged to have subsequently committed an armed robbery at a liquor store near 82 Avenue and 75 Street, before being spotted by police again and followed to the Capilano Bridge.

The accused was arrested and taken into custody by Tactical Section members on the bridge shortly thereafter.

Cameron Skidmore, 28, is facing 14 charges including pointing a firearm, robbery, criminal flight (x2), and numerous other weapon’s offences and breaches.
