Early Tuesday, July 23, 2013, a 62-year-old missing man was located in Sherwood Park by EPS Robbery Detectives, following an intense and time-sensitive 24-hour investigation. Once detectives were certain the victim and abductor(s) were at a specific location, the RCMP Emergency Response Team was called in to enter the home in Sherwood Park, and safely return the man to his family.
The 62-year-old is recovering from injuries. His name will not be released.
It was reported that the victim met with business associates on Sunday, July 21, 2013, then missed another scheduled appointment a little later, which was out of character and raised concerns. He was reported missing late Sunday to EPS West Division.
After the man was allegedly taken against his will, his life was threatened and he was physically assaulted.
Raheel Khalon, 26, and David Chipere, 41, are charged with kidnapping, extortion, unlawful confinement, assault causing bodily harm and three counts each of uttering death threats. Chipere was also charged with breach of recognizance.
