On Tuesday morning a deceased male was found within a burnt-out rental suite near 106 Avenue and 122 Street.
Just after 5 a.m., April 19, 2016, Edmonton Fire Rescue arson investigators requested the assistance of police at the scene. Due to the extent of the fire damage within the suite, EPS Arson Unit detectives and a forensic identification team were dispatched as a precautionary measure.
An autopsy was conducted on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 and the Medical Examiner determined the adult male died as a result of a gun-shot wound.
Police do not know the identity of the deceased and are releasing the following details in an effort to further the investigation and notify the appropriate next of kin:
- Adult male
- Caucasian
- Over 5’8” tall
- Weight described as ‘medium to large’ build
- Wearing jeans (True Religion brand), a black leather jacket, Nike running shoes, and a watch
- The male was wearing a ring with a distinct pattern (see photo below)
