The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section has laid a second-degree murder charge in relation to the death of Louie De Sousa Sa.

On May 19, 2016, just after 11 p.m., patrol officers from Northwest Division responded to a rental property near 82 Street and 123 Avenue and located the 61-year-old deceased within a suite.

An autopsy conducted this past Tuesday determined he died as a result of trauma to his upper body.

Malory Lajimodiere, 28, is charged with second-degree murder and possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The victim and the accused knew each other and resided in the same residence. Detectives are not looking for any additional suspects at this time.

Homicide Section declared his death as the city’s 22nd homicide of the year.
