Homicide Section investigating after man found dead in northeast Edmonton

The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section is investigating the death of a man who was found with gunshot wounds last night in northeast Edmonton.

Police were called to a report of shots fired near Ozerna Road, between 69 Street and 165 Avenue, at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016. Northeast Division officers responded and found a male lying on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services declared the man deceased at the scene.

The EPS Homicide Section has taken over the ongoing investigation. An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 31, 2016.

Police are searching for a black, older Toyota sedan (possibly a Corolla or Camry) that was seen leaving the area last night travelling southbound on Ozerna Road.

The lone occupant of the Toyota vehicle has been described as an East Indian male, late 20s to early 30s, with short dark hair and an average build (5’8”-5’10” and 180-200 lbs.). He was wearing a dark sweater and blue jeans.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about this vehicle, individual or event to call police.

Four males in a van were also seen in the area at the time of the incident. These individuals are not considered suspects; they are asked to contact the Edmonton Police Service as soon as possible.
