At approximately 3:30 a.m. today (Sept. 27, 2016), Northwest Division officers responded to the area of 121 Avenue and 127 Street to the report of damage to a grocery store. When officers arrived, they located a stolen backhoe and noted the significant damage to the exterior wall of the store.
Upon further investigation, officers determined that the backhoe had been used to breach the wall of the grocery store to remove an ATM inside. Police believe the suspect(s) then fled the scene in an unidentified vehicle.
Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed this incident or saw a backhoe being driven in the area of 121 Avenue and 126 Street around 3:30 a.m. this morning, to contact the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567or #377 from a mobile phone.
