Autopsy results confirm man died from gunshot wounds

The Edmonton Medical Examiner has confirmed that a 30-year-old Edmonton man died from gunshot wounds Friday, Oct. 7, 2016.

Autopsy results released earlier today confirm that Phu Phan, 30, died from multiple gunshot wounds with the manner of death being a homicide. 

Investigators believe Phan was shot to death Friday morning while sitting in a vehicle parked outside of a residence in northwest Edmonton.  

Witnesses told police a small blue SUV or minivan was spotted leaving the scene just after 7:30 a.m.

This is the Edmonton’s 35th homicide of 2016.

Background:
The Edmonton Police Service is investigating a shooting that occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, near 171 Avenue and 126 Street in northwest Edmonton.

Northwest Division patrol members responded to a weapons complainant at a northwest Edmonton address, where neighbours reported hearing shots being fired.

Upon arrival, police found a male on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds.

The male was pronounced deceased on scene, despite efforts by paramedics to revive him.
