A prolific break-and-enter offender wanted on more than 30 recent warrants is in custody, following his arrest while allegedly driving a truck with a stolen licence plate. William Geoffrey Schaffrick, 44, was arrested and taken into custody by Southwest Division officers yesterday afternoon, Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, while fuelling up the truck at a gas station near 43 Avenue and 34 Street.
It is alleged that Schaffrick broke into mailboxes at a pair of condo complexes in southwest Edmonton several times between September 9 and 14, 2016. Investigators believe Schaffrick may also be responsible for several other mailbox thefts dating back to 2015.
As a result, 28 warrants for break and enter, theft of mail, possession of break-and-enter tools and possession of stolen property under $5,000 were issued for Schaffrick’s arrest on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016.
Schaffrick is now also facing additional charges stemming from three parkade break-and-enters that occurred over the last month, where it is alleged he broke into vehicles and storage lockers and made off with personal documents and a bicycle.
