West Division officers responded to a collision involving an Edmonton Transit System bus and pedestrian in the area of 87 Avenue and 169 Street at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Oct. 4, 2016.
It was reported that a bus was travelling northbound on 169 Street, made a left turn onto 87 Avenue and struck an 83-year-old female pedestrian as she crossed 87 Avenue in a marked crosswalk. The female was treated and transported to hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The Edmonton Police Service charged the female driver of the bus in connection to the collision. Kellie Rowe, 42, is facing one count of fail to yield to pedestrian in a marked crosswalk under the Traffic Safety Act.
Neither speed nor alcohol were contributing factors in this collision.
This is Edmonton’s 19th traffic fatality of 2016.
