“We have three separate criminal deaths that occurred between May 30 and June 3, 2013, that are all independent of one another and are in no way connected,” said Staff Sgt. Bill Clark of the EPS Homicide Section. “There is also no identifiable reason to believe any of the homicides were committed randomly.”
Curtis Raymond Dugray, 51, was found deceased in a park at 99 Avenue and 111 Street on the evening of Thursday, May 30 (cause of death not released); Shane Kyle Bird, 18, succumbed to life-threatening stab wounds following an altercation at 114 Street and Jasper Avenue early on Monday, June 3; and Jose Rodriguez, 68, was found deceased from a stab wound in his apartment at 83 Street and Jasper Avenue on the morning of Monday, June 3.
Clark reported that homicide detectives have identified two persons of interest in the Dugray homicide and a lone suspect in the Bird homicide. He clarified that Dugray and Bird were known to police; however, all three men - to varying degrees - were involved in high risk lifestyles.
