Public information and warning

In the interest of public safety, the Edmonton Police Service is issuing a warning about Jonathan Sidney Burd, who was recently released from the Bowden Institution after completing a sentence of just over nine years for unlawfully at large, forcible confinement (x3), utter threats to cause death / harm (x2), possess weapon / dangerous to the public, theft over, and criminal flight.

Burd is considered by police to be a violent offender who poses a significant harm to the community to reoffend violently.  Burd will be residing in the Edmonton area and will be monitored closely by detectives in the EPS Behavioural Assessment Unit.

The Edmonton Police Service is issuing this information and warning after careful deliberation of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community.
