The Edmonton Police Service has charged a male in connection with a sexual assault that occurred last year.

In July 2016, a male and female met through an online dating website. After several conversations, the two began meeting for coffee dates.

On October 13, 2016, they met for coffee as per usual and then decided to go for a walk in Hermitage Park.

The male, a taxi driver, drove the female to the park in his cab around 6 p.m., where it was reported that he allegedly sexually assaulted the female.

The complainant reported the incident on October 25, 2016 to the RCMP, who then forwarded the file to EPS to investigate.

Tarek Diab, 43, was charged on Monday, May 22, 2017 with sexual assault causing bodily harm.

Investigators believe there may be other complainants that have had similar interactions with Diab and are asking them to come forward to police.
