The Edmonton Police Service has concluded an investigation into human remains that were found in a northeast neighbourhood last week.

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jun. 28, 2018, police responded to a report of skeletal remains that had been found at a construction site in the area of 74 Street and 174 Avenue.

EPS officers investigated in consultation with Homicide Section. Searches were conducted in the area, and no further remains were recovered.

Preliminary analysis by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) has determined that the skeletal remains are human, and are between 75 and 100 years old. Police do not believe the recovery of the remains is suspicious, and the EPS investigation is therefore concluded.

The OCME holds custody of unidentified human remains, and is responsible for any further investigation into their origin. The OCME will examine the remains in more detail.
