On Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at approximately 7:30 p.m., West Division officers were called to an apartment complex in the area of 110 Avenue and 124 Street on the report of a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers located a 20-year-old injured male who was pronounced deceased on scene by EMS. A male suspect was also located in the vicinity with non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and transported to hospital by paramedics.
An autopsy took place yesterday, Monday, Jan. 7, 2019 and the Edmonton Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be stab wounds and the manner of death to be homicide.
Martin Ronald Damien Grey, 32, is charged with second degree murder in relation to the death of the 20-year-old male. The victim and the accused were both from Edmonton and were known to one another.
Every file is evaluated on a case by case basis. The EPS has decided not to release the name of the deceased in this investigation for the following reasons: it does not serve an investigative purpose and the EPS has a duty to protect the privacy rights of the victims and their families.
