The Edmonton Police Service is appealing to anyone with information related to the Rodriguez homicide to come forward.

Jose Guillermo Rodriguez, 68, was found dead in his apartment on 83 Street and Jasper Avenue last Monday, June 3, 2013. The Medical Examiner concluded his death to be the result of a stabbing.

Rodriguez was last seen leaving his place of employment in the downtown core at approximately 3:30 p.m., Wednesday May 29, 2013. There have not been any reported sightings since that Wednesday afternoon.

Homicide detectives are also looking for any information regarding the victim’s vehicle - a 2005 silver Ford Focus, Alberta plate HDU 977 - which was recovered in the rear parking lot of his apartment building at the same time his body was found.

“Upon inspection, it was determined there was fresh damage to the steering column and dash,” said homicide Det. Mark Bloxham. “As such, it is believed that Rodriguez’s vehicle was driven by person(s) unknown, sometime between the late afternoon of Wednesday, May 29th and the morning of Monday, June 3rd.”

Anyone who has information about this crime is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.tipsubmit.com/start.htm.
