Autopsy confirms death to be a homicide

The autopsy on a deceased male found yesterday afternoon has confirmed the man’s death to be a homicide. The victim’s name will not be released until next of kin have been notified.

Edmonton’s Medical Examiner has determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma.

There is no evidence at this time that suggests this homicide is related to any others. Investigators believe this was not a random act. Southwest Division Neighbourhood Empowerment Team is assisting with the investigation.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact police. The victim was last seen in the area on Monday, June 3, 2013, where he was found deceased.

 Background:

Just after 4 p.m., the Southwest Division patrol members responded to a report of a deceased male found in the bushes, in the area of 68 Avenue and 170 Street.

 Homicide Detectives were called in shortly after and are leading the investigation. The death is being treated as suspicious.

 An autopsy is taking place this morning.
