Police seek public assistance in identifying carjacking suspect

Police are asking the public for assistance in identifying a suspect in a carjacking. It was reported that at around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013, a female went to retrieve her vehicle from a parking lot in the area of 124 Street and 102 Avenue when she was approached by a male suspect who produced a gun and demanded the keys to her vehicle. The victim complied and was not injured in the incident.

Police searched for the suspect and found the stolen vehicle in the area of 118 Street and 103 Avenue a short time later.

“The victim in this case did the right thing,” says West Division Sgt. Aubrey Zalaski. “This is a very serious crime and she made sure that she was safe first and foremost.”

A police sketch artist worked with the victim to produce a composite sketch of the suspect. The suspect is described as being dark skinned, 5'8" tall with a pock-marked face. The suspect was wearing grey sweat pants, dark shirt, round glasses and a beige fisherman's hat.

                                            

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. If you see the suspect, do not approach him. Contact police immediately.
