The EPS Major Collision Investigation Section (MCIS) is investigating a fatal collision that claimed the life of a 77-year-old female pedestrian on Jasper Avenue earlier this evening.At approximately 4:50 p.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, Downtown Division patrol members responded to a collision call near 102 Street and Jasper Avenue.
It was reported to police, that a 77-year-old female pedestrian was walking southbound on the east side of 102 Street and crossing Jasper Avenue, when she was struck by a Ford Escape being driven by a 38-year-old male.
The pedestrian was reportedly crossing Jasper Avenue in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by the 2009 SUV, which was also travelling southbound, before turning eastbound onto Jasper Avenue.
The woman was treated and transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she would later succumb to her injuries.
Major Collision investigators do not believe speed nor alcohol were factors in the collision.
No charges have been laid, at this time, as the investigation is still ongoing.
