On Jan. 31, 2022, at approximately 10 p.m., police were conducting proactive patrol in the area of 103 Avenue and 103 Street when they observed a male and female inside a convenience store with no masks on. Police approached the two people and, after identifying the female as having numerous outstanding warrants, placed her under arrest.
The male became non-compliant with police and fled the scene, thus initiating a foot chase. He then turned towards police, pointing a sawed-off shotgun at them before fleeing again. With the assistance of Air 1, an EPS Canine Unit and Downtown Patrol members, a high-risk track was conducted, which located the male. The sawed-off shotgun was recovered nearby.
