The Edmonton Police Service has recovered stolen first responder uniforms, high calibre firearms and an improvised explosive device from a residence in southeast Edmonton on Saturday.

At approximately 3:50 a.m. on Jan. 29, 2022, Southeast Division officers observed three males loading suspicious items into a taxi at an address in the area of 44 Avenue and James Crescent. When they saw police, the males fled back into the residence, leaving the bags behind.

Inside the bags, police located two high-powered rifles with silencers, several other firearms and an EPS uniform. A fourth male exited the residence and was found to have outstanding warrants. He was arrested on scene. EPS Tactical Section was called in, and the residence was contained.

Throughout the negotiations that ensued, another male, a female and a child exited the residence. At that time, police had information that indicated there were still others inside the residence, and containment continued until the residence was determined to be empty of occupants in the early hours of Jan. 30, 2022.

A search warrant on the home was executed, revealing numerous firearms, an improvised explosive device, and police, fire and EMS uniforms. The investigation is ongoing.
