EPS Homicide Section has laid charges against four men in the 2021 death of Donald Blizzard.

While final autopsy results are still pending, the EPS Homicide Section has confirmed the death is a homicide.

Justin Michael March, 34, Kevin Daniel Turner, 33, and Andrew Timothy Walker, 32 are all charged with second degree murder, unlawful confinement, indignity to a body and obstruction of justice.

Mark Elder, 35, is charged with indignity to a body and obstruction of justice.

Background

On Sep. 22, 2021, the EPS issued a media release seeking the public’s assistance in locating 43-year-old Donald Blizzard, who was reportedly last seen at 11 a.m. at the Clareview LRT station on Jul. 22, 2021. Blizzard’s disappearance was considered out of character, but there were no indications to suggest foul play at the time.

Prior to that date, on Sep. 13, 2021, Mayerthorpe RCMP responded to the discovery of human remains near Range Road 43, north of Township Road 560. A Sep. 15, 2021 autopsy determined the cause of death required further testing, and the manner of death remained suspicious. Working closely with the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit (MCU), EPS Homicide detectives later identified the deceased as missing male Donald Blizzard.
