Police investigating serious collisions on Anthony Henday Drive

The Edmonton Police Service is investigating two serious collision that took place early this morning on Anthony Henday Drive in northwest Edmonton.

At approximately 4:24 a.m. this morning, Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023, Northwest Branch patrol officers were called to the report of two collisions on Anthony Henday Drive between St. Albert Trail and the 170 Street overpass. It was reported to police that a Ford Fusion sedan was travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Anthony Henday Drive when it struck a Ford F150 truck. The adult male driver of the Fusion then reportedly exited the vehicle and ran into oncoming traffic in the westbound lanes of Anthony Henday Drive where he was struck by a Honda Ridgeline.

EMS responded, treated and transported the 20-year-old male driver to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he remains. The male drivers of the F150 and the Ridgeline did not report any injuries at the time.

EPS Major Collision Investigations Section continues to investigate. Speed is believed to a factor in the first collision.
