An Edmonton Police Service (EPS) officer is facing
charges in relation to a Jan. 14, 2023 incident.![]()
On Jan. 14, 2023, Const. Clayton Tipton, a 15-year member of the EPS, was charged with assault and intimidation in relation to an off-duty incident that occurred in Spruce Grove that same day. Parkland RCMP is leading the investigation.
Const. Tipton is currently on leave, after which he will be placed in an administrative role.
EPS Professional Standards Branch will commence an investigation under the Police Service Regulation (PSR) following the resolution of the criminal prosecution.
As the matter is currently before the courts, the EPS is not able to provide further comment or information about the incident or investigation.
