The Edmonton Police Service is warning the public about a woman convicted of fraud who continues to violate her court-ordered conditions.

In January 2022, Tanea Bouma, 39, who had court-ordered conditions not to obtain employment or a volunteer role involving financial authority, obtained a job as an accounting manager at an Edmonton business. Between January 2022 and October 2022, Bouma proceeded to defraud the business of more than $34,000.

Investigators later uncovered that Bouma had obtained another job as a financial assistant, which she held from January 2023 to March 2023.

On Monday, Jun. 19, 2023, Bouma turned herself in to police and was charged with fraud under $5,000 x3, fraud over $5,000, theft over $5,000 and two breaches. A further charge is pending in relation to employment insurance fraud she committed while at her job as an accounting manager.

Police believe Bouma may have victimized others, and that she is likely to continue to commit fraud offences against business and individuals in the community. As such, police are warning the public about her criminal history in relation to fraud, and are encouraging other complainants to come forward.

Anyone who believes they have been victimized by the accused is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com/250.
