The EPS is investigating a fatal collision involving a
pedestrian and a train that occurred yesterday in east Edmonton.
Just before 10:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, police were called to the report of a deceased male on the railway tracks. Further investigation revealed that the 64-year-old male pedestrian was struck by an eastbound freight train in the area of 50 Street and Sherwood Park Freeway. His body was discovered shortly after by railway employees as the train returned westbound.
Officers with the EPS Major Collision Investigations Section worked with Canadian Pacific Railway investigators to investigate this collision. The death has been deemed non-criminal, and no charges will be laid.
