At approximately 1:45 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014, the Edmonton Police Service received reports of damage to vehicles parked on the street in the area of 116 Street and 111A Avenue. Upon investigation, Downtown Patrol officers discovered more than 15 vehicles with broken windows on both the north and south sides of 111A Avenue. Preliminary investigations indicate that the windows may have been shot out with a BB gun.
Police also responded to a fast-food establishment at 81 Street and 112 Avenue. Six of the restaurant’s east-facing windows were damaged in a similar manner. Vehicle windows were also reported broken in the area of 113 Avenue and 89 Street.
A similar incident was reported in Southwest Division, where the windows of three vehicles were shot out in the Riverbend neighbourhood.
“Police believe these incidents may be related,” says Staff Sgt. Randy Wickins with Downtown Division. “Citizens are asked to come forward if they have information about these crimes. Be attentive to your surroundings and please report any suspicious activities to the police.”
Police continue to investigate these occurrences.
