The fatal collision occurred at approximately 11:50 p.m. on Sept. 3, 2015. Police were called to the area of 92 Street and 106A Avenue after it was reported that a male pedestrian had been hit by a train.
It is alleged the adult male was walking northbound on the east sidewalk of 92 Street, approaching the level LRT crossing north of 106A Avenue, when he was struck by an eastbound LRT train in the marked crossing. Reports indicate the crossing arms were lowered and the warning lights were flashing at the time of the collision.
Police believe the pedestrian was wearing headphones and distraction may be a factor in the collision.
The 23-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene. There were no other injuries reported.
The EPS Major Collision Investigation Unit continues to investigate. Charges have not been laid.
