On Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, at approximately 10:30 p.m., police responded to the area of 82 Street and 128A Avenue to the report of a collision involving a pedestrian.
It was reported that two male pedestrians, aged 19 and 39, were walking westbound on 82 Street in a marked crosswalk when the 19-year-old pedestrian was allegedly struck by a Chevrolet Impala travelling southbound on 82 Street. The driver of the vehicle, a 28-year-old female, remained on scene while the other male pedestrian fled prior to police arrival.
The 19-year-old pedestrian was treated and transported to hospital by EMS that evening and succumbed to his injuries on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016.
Charges are pending against the female driver. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in this collision.
This is Edmonton’s 18th traffic fatality of the year.
