The Edmonton Police Service is cautioning motorists to adjust their driving habits given the slippery road conditions, after a pedestrian was struck at an intersection earlier today.

At approximately 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, an 81-year-old male was standing on the southeast corner of 135 Street preparing to cross 111 Avenue northbound, when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle, which allegedly lost control and jumped the curb.

Major Collision Section investigators believe speed may have been a factor given the wintery road conditions. The elderly pedestrian sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital by EMS.
