Stabbing victim succumbs to injuries

EPS Homicide Section detectives are investigating the death of a woman who was stabbed in central Edmonton last week.

At approximately 7:23 p.m. on Jan. 25, 2022, police responded to the report of a stabbing in the area of 101 Avenue and 120 Street. The victim, now identified as Natasha Rich, 47, was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday Feb. 2, 2022.

An autopsy completed by the Edmonton Medical Examiner today, Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, has confirmed the cause of death to be sharp force injury. The manner of death is homicide.

The 20-year-old female suspect, who was known to the victim, has been in custody since the stabbing occurred. A charge of second degree murder is pending.
